A LivingLab approach will be used to bring laboratory based technology-related projects and test-beds into real-life user-focused environments for validation. 

A Living Lab is an arena for innovation. It should include end users in the entire development process and be sensitive to the needs of users in their authentic contexts and day-to-day activities

To foster innovation and knowledge exchange, the centres are formed based on the Triple-Helix approach where collaboration between public sector, industry and higher education is important.
